Fallback Routines
Why we should all have hierarchies or fallback routines when it comes to our health.
We should all have hierarchies or fallback routines when it comes to our health. But most of us only have a plan A.
Unfortunately, not every day will go as planned. That doesn’t mean the day is a loss. This is where a fallback routine can be vital.
When motivation is low. When time is tight. When stress is high.
Having a scaled-down version of your habits keeps the momentum alive.
Here’s an example:
Tier 1 (ideal): Full strength workout + home-cooked meals + 8 hours of sleep
Tier 2: 30-minute movement session + grab-and-go healthy options + 7 hours of sleep
Tier 3 (fallback): 10-minute walk + protein bar + evening breathwork
All levels win, because you stayed in the game.
I’ll say it over and over. Health doesn’t have to mean perfection. Health is about consistency that adapts.
Design your fallback routine now so future you doesn’t spiral when life happens.
What’s one non-negotiable that always stays in your fallback plan?
A quick update (and an upgrade)
Obviously, we’re on a new platform. Circle was great for community (and my community will stay and grow there), but for my writing, Substack is where the creators and writers live.
So apologies for the platform hopping, but going forward, you’ll start seeing these posts delivered through Substack. The goal is simple: to make this content more useful, more engaging, and easier to share and revisit over time.
Here’s what this unlocks for you:
All posts in one place. Every newsletter, blog, and long-form piece will now live in a searchable library you can reference anytime. Movement. Nutrition. Recovery. Lifestyle. Search, learn, apply, repeat.
Built-in interaction. You can like, comment, and engage directly on posts. More conversation, more shared learning. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say!
Audio versions of each post. Prefer to listen on a walk, drive, or workout? You’ll now have that option. Not only are all my podcast episodes on Substack, but all my writing will also be, both written and audio.
A cleaner, simpler experience that grows with the community. Easier to share, easier to find other great voices, easier to consume, easier to support.
Again, apologies for all the jumping around. Nothing you need to do. Just keep reading, listening, and engaging in whatever way fits your life.
As always, thank you for being part of The Vitality System community. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to learn, explore, create, and inspire alongside you all! I’m excited about where this next chapter takes us.
Thank you!
-Kyle
